Tips for Landlords and Tenents
"We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude." Cynthia Ozick
Perhaps you are just moving out of your
apartment, or maybe you are a landlord and now have a vacant home to rent. Well
let me just tell you that the next person who is about to rent that beautiful
apartment will be very demanding and will insist on it being "Pristine" clean. It may seem obvious but one person’s
“clean” is not what the next person sees as “clean”. The only way to keep the
next person happy is to apply the highest standards of cleanliness.
Cast a critical eye around the apartment,
as if you are the first time renter, and then leave it in that condition. That
way tenants get their deposit back and landlords are ready for the next tenant.
Some tips for all:
- If there
is, or has been food in or on it, then clean and sanitise it.
- If it has
been touched by body scales or fluids then clean and sanitise it
- If it is
greasy or grubby clean it
- If it is
damaged repair it.
Bathrooms need a thorough clean maybe even
a steam clean around that shower or bath. Toilets need a good scrub. Consider
changing the loo seat. If there is mould it needs to be treated.
Launder soft furnishings or have upholstery
cleaned at the same time that you’re a getting the carpets cleaned.
Important to get into all the corners under
cushions and rugs, high levels are often out of sight but not to fresh
eyes.
Lastly clean the entrance and front door
especially the brasses.
"The most effective way to do it, is to do it."
Amelia Earhart
