What to Bear in Mind when Planning a Spring Clean

With all this fine weather isn’t it time that you did that Spring Clean  -  yes the one you put off last month because it was cold and wet. Get it done before the school holidays start.

Plan it,  don’t just jump in -  it will either become a big messy chore or the things you really wanted to do will get lost.  Decide on priorities, which rooms need  de-cluttering, do the inside of presses need reorganising, cleaning silver and brass ware, tiles and grouting in bathrooms,  Venetian blinds and vents, skylights – in otherwords all those areas that are passed over on a routine clean.
Once you have decided on what needs doing, now decide on dates or days and make sure that nothing else gets in the way. If you don’t have the time then we would love to help just call me, Diana at  1890 929988.
Collect all the items required,  boxes and bags for de-cluttering and  any cleaning materials that you will need.  Decide on what charity will benefit from the de clutter. Make any arrangements or appointments if you are using outside help such as Pristine Home or perhaps the chimney sweep. Ensure you have sufficient time to complete all the jobs you have planned.
If you are doing this yourself then remember a few safety tips. You don’t want to end up a patient who cannot enjoy the fruits of your labour.

  •  If you are tired the no heavy work for you
  •  Make sure any ladders or steps are secure with rubberised feet and set up on the level
  •  Do not leave buckets and cleaning tools and flexes lying around to fall over. Put them away when finished
  • Take care moving heavy furniture,  remember to bend your knees when lifting
  • Do not carry too much in a heavy load
  • Wet surfaces are slippery so care is needed
  •  Always read and follow instructions on cleaning products  which can be corrosive and harmful
I am not sure that I can agree with this saying:

If the shelves are dusty and the pots don't shine,
it's because I have better things to do with my time.
